Crystal Palace one step away from historic achievement

Having seen off the likes of Athletic Club, Benfica, Feyenoord, and most recently Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace U21s are in the semi-finals of the Premier League International Cup yet again.

Two finals in as many seasons would be a fantastic achievement for the academy, but first, they must defeat Everton tonight at Selhurst Park.

Their first time in the competition last season ended in extra-time heartbreak, with Jong PSV coming back from behind in the final to steal the trophy out of Palace's sights. Just under one year later, Palace have a chance for revenge - should they succeed tonight, they will face Jong PSV in the final.

Of course, the Palace side has changed massively since the last time the two sides met - just Jack Wells-Morrison and Kaden Rodney have stayed with the U21s this season - but that won't stop the potential storyline of a side with unfinished business.

Darren Powell is expected to have a lot of firepower to choose from, with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Nathan Ferguson both returning from injury. Roshaun Mathurin has been in sparkling form for the U21s this season, and Mofe Jemide has excelled in defence since stepping up an age group.

Tickets are still available to watch the game, and it will also be streamed on PalaceTV+.

Player to Watch: Roshaun Mathurin

Former Tottenham Hotspur talent Roshaun Mathurin has the most goals and assists for Crystal Palace in the PL2 this season, and was recently rewarded with an inclusion in Oliver Glasner's first-team squad.

He is a tricky left-winger with a knack for beating his man, as well as a looping, curling cross that can split any defence.
