The Michael Olise transfer saga has begun - or has it?

The Michael Olise transfer saga has begun - or has it?

There are few players in the Premier League more sought after this summer than Michael Olise. The 22-year-old winger scored ten goals and assisted another six in just 19 games last season, and has caught the attention of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City.

However, Olise is understood to be happy at Crystal Palace, and not actively pushing for a move. Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman have masterminded an exciting project now being brought to fruition by Oliver Glasner's management, and Palace do not have any financial requirement to sell Olise - yet.

Chelsea are especially keen on Olise, however, contrary to reports emerging earlier today, The Palace Way understands that no personal terms have been agreed between the Blues and Olise.

Any suitors looking to sign Olise would have to pay the full sum of the release clause up front, differing to regular transfers where a staggered payment approach can be included.

For Chelsea and Manchester United's case, paying the flat fee would not affect their ability to meet profitability and sustainability regulations (PSR), as it would still be amortised over the length of the contract signed.

In other words, from a PSR perspective, the payment for Olise would be seen as divided over the years on any new contract, even if his future club paid up front.

However, as of now, The Palace Way understands that no clubs have contacted Crystal Palace in relation to directly paying Olise's release clause.
